Radiation Safety Training
Course Description
This course provides a foundational overview of ionizing radiation, its health effects, regulatory dose limits, contamination control, ALARA principles, and proper use of dosimeters and protective equipment. Participants learn how to maintain safety, compliance, and competency when working with or around radiation in medical, industrial, veterinary, dental, and research environments.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the fundamentals of ionizing radiation, including sources, dose concepts, and biological effects.
- Apply core radiation safety principles (ALARA) using time, distance, and shielding to minimize exposure.
- Properly use and interpret radiation monitoring tools, including dosimeters and basic dose reports.
